This module is for Grades: 9-10 Welcome

Have you ever gone online to get a map to help you find your way to a new shopping center or movie theatre?  The map tells you the roads you should take and the approximate time it will take you to get there. Good readers often make similar preparations before they begin to read a text.  Previewing a text for text structure is similar to using a map. The reader looks for how the text is structured prior to reading, in preparation for understanding the text.

In this activity, you will identify the text structure used to organize and present information in passages that explain different forms of economic systems, and how the economic system of the United States works.

Module Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify how the author organizes the text structure to emphasize key points or advance an explanation or analysis.
