Ancient:

Period of time when populations grew and civilizations advanced from about 5,000 to 2,000 years ago.

Clergy:

Class of church officials that support local churches and the pope’s wishes.

Dynasty:

A period of rule by a series of kings, queens or emperors of the same family.

Knight:

A member of a group in feudal Europe that served in the military class to protect a kingdom or empire in exchange for food and shelter.

Medieval:

Period of time also known as the "Middle Ages" from about 500 C.E. to 1500 C.E.

Nobility:

Class of people of high wealth and political power, second only to the king or queen.

Plague:

Disease that is easily and quickly spread across populations, and kills many of its victims.

Serfs:

Poorest social class that farmed the land or worked in towns in exchange for basic food and shelter.
