In Afghanistan, no law can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions of the sacred religion of Islam.

• This is a key difference between Afghanistan and the United States – the U.S. Constitution prevents the government from supporting a religion, while the Afghanistan government is based on the religion of Islam.

Affairs related to the domestic and external trade shall be regulated by law in accordance with the needs of the national economy and public interests.

The president is the head of state of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and conducts his authorities in executive, legislative, and judiciary branches in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.

• The president is the leader of Afghanistan, and works with the three branches of government according to the rules in the Afghanistan Constitution.
• This is similar to the job of the president as described in the United States Constitution, who must work with the three branches of government to govern the nation.

The National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as the highest legislative organ is the manifestation of the will of its people and represents the whole nation.

• The legislative branch is made up of a "National Assembly," which represents the needs and wishes of all people in Afghanistan.
• This is also similar to the United States, which has a "Congress" as its legislative branch that governs for all Americans.

The provincial council takes part in securing the developmental targets of the state and improving its affairs in a way stated in the law, and gives advice on important issues falling within the domain of the province.

• The needs of people in local areas are also protected by a local form of government called a "provincial council."
• This shows that the Afghanistan Constitution also allowed the government to support people on a local level in the more rural areas of Afghanistan.

The Supreme Court upon request of the Government or the Courts can review compliance with the Constitution of laws, legislative decrees, international treaties, and international conventions, and interpret them, in accordance with the law.

• The Supreme Court rules on whether people follow laws and relations between Afghanistan and other nations.
• This is similar to the U.S. Supreme Court, which also rules on whether laws follow the U.S. Constitution and the relations between the U.S. and foreign nations.
