Formal style:

A writing style characterized by the use of standard English, more complex sentence structures, infrequent use of personal pronouns, and lack of colloquial or slang terms.

Domain-specific vocabulary:

Terms used by the writer associated with the field of study of the text. Examples of domain-specific vocabulary in political science include terms such a legislature, bill, appropriations, judicial review, federalism or eminent domain.

Informative/explanatory text:

Writing to inform or explain a topic to readers using factual information accurately and clearly.

One Man, One Vote:

A standard where each congressional or state representative represents approximately the same number of constituents.
