Napoleon Bonaparte’s action in Europe helped to trigger the revolts in the Spanish colonies. Napoleon made his brother Joseph king of Spain. The Creoles in Latin America may had supported a Spanish king, but they had no loyalty to a French king who was imposed on them. In 1810, rebellion broke out in several parts of Latin America. You just completed an activity about the Mexican Revolution and the War for Independence. Now you will examine primary and secondary sources to learn about the South American revolutions and wars of independence. As you read each source of information, you will complete the graphic organizer comparing and contrasting the treatment of the South American revolutions. After completing this task, you may check your answers. Using your completed graphic organizer as a reference, you will complete a series of questions at the end of this module.
